A gift for the Dr. Who fan.

I recently created a t-shirt featuring my nephew as the 10th doctor from Dr. Who for his birthday. Here’s the various steps it took to accomplish that.

The initial sketch.

The refined pencil version -which came together fast…

The colored version (via PS).

Now the  “dark t-shirt, iron-on transfer” output. An Adjustment Layer was necessary (+16 Lightness / -5 to Saturation) and Print Management assigned to PS to insure an output resembled the screen at least alil’.

The iron-on peeling away.

A full minute of ironing using the hottest setting.

Blam.

Since we had foam core kicking around (thankfully) I decided to make a TARDIS-like giftbox.

Here’s the results following exact-o blade action, hot glue, and spray paint.

Originally I wanted to cut the windows out and use paper as backing -but Alysha recommended using matte board. So, blam.

To create hindges for the doors I simply pushed framing nails through at the necessary points.

And here’s the final with the  t-shirts wrapped in yellow tissue paper within.

Oh, wait, almost final. Chloe made a card and then Alysha tied it to the handles. -Team work!

…and success. :)!
